Birch dominoes

First time I've been along the wood since the December storms. I was stunned by the damage, so many trees fallen and a huge landslip.
Maybe I can use Birch to build my Ark.

Sad to see, but maybe time for some new growth. V

Oh dear, I hate seeing trees down, they take so many years to get to this
size and its all over for them. v

Need a hand to carry the chainsaw ? :) Such a shame to see them fall and landslips are always a worry

Hopefully they left behind enough seeds to replace them.

looks a bit knubbly for building, but use of the bark is traditional for roofing and the inside burns nicely

Oh dear! Hopefully the weather hasn't been too bad... Neat view of the tangled branches!

the storm did its job: the old and diseased trees fell! V

Such a shame these lovely trees have fallen. They would make good firewood though.

Maybe they just need standing back up? :O)

a pity to see and learn about the extensive after-effects...the birch do seem to have shallow root systems, making them so vulnerable..
