Taken at the 1953 'All Herts Rally' which the St Albans club organised at Radlett (the Handley Page factory and airfield) and is before Don and I teamed up together. I am on the left with my class A and first B models (I've still got the A one up in the loft). Don is next to me with his half A model and what looks like an A model unless it's a trick of the angles but is very similar to his first B model. I don't remember him doing class A. On the right is Jim Moseley (now in Canada) with A and B models but he was more into free flight then control line and said to me in recent years that he thinks one of them never got flown. However he did act as third man for us sometimes. Between Don and Jim is Roger Hymans who was my original pilot in the eary days when I was learning and starting to do reasonably well with the ED 2.46 powered A model. Roger was also a very good pilot - shades of things to come as he joined the RAF in 1954 and flew lightnings quite a lot faster! That was when I found myself without a pilot and Don and I got together - and the rest is history!
