The big cup Dick Edmonds is holding (centre) was for class A and was the one which for many years had been raced for at the Northern Heights Gala, then one of the major events in the competition calendar for all types of model. For some reason they decided to re-jig the Gala format and dropped team racing (and possibly all C/L) from their schedule of competitions and I managed to pursuade them to let the cup be presented instead at our Enfield Rallies each year.

Syd McGoun one of our main rivals is holding the class B trophy, which I think was also borrowed from the same source, whilst John Templeman had obviously won combat. Ray 'Gadget' Gibbs had won the 10cc speed and broken the world record. This was just one of several occasions when Gadget broke records at our rally and was not the occasion of the fracas with HJN about the authenticity of the impounded engine; that came later. The fact that I was no stranger to impounding record breaking engines and delivering then to HJN for checking made his behaviour on that occasion all the more galling and offensive.

It's from one of the then two local papers in Enfield. Looking at the font, I think it is from the Enfield Weekly Herald, long since defunct.
