After a conrod broke, another one was sectioned revealing porosity in the pressure die casting. The McCoy 29 used a light allow forged item which was a more appropriate material. In the case of the ETA 29 the suspect conrods were replaced by ones machined from extruded dural stock with a phosphor bronze bush pressed into the big end.
