Wonderful quote, John. This one's a real keeper! Walt Whitman is one of my all time favorite poets, too. Thanks for sharing it with us. If everyone did what it says, "re-examine all you have been told" and simply learn to think for yourself, we'd all be much better off. The world would surely be a happier place with more loving, compassionate, caring people. We would love ourselves as we love others and vice versa. There are too many mindless souls who follow the flock, like sheep and never challenge things that just don't sit right in their hearts. Whitman understood that we are all human beings with sensitive feelings and each day words and actions come flying toward us like arrows and we must know which ones to avoid...so let's all duck when the bad,"insulting" arrows are aimed at our heads and hearts. Thanks again, John, for all you do to keep us sane in this wild, wild world.
