The Royal Stables in Meknes were constructed in the 18th century to comfortably house no less that twelve thousand of the royal horses. Moulay Ismail (born 1645 and lived until 1727) was the king leader who ordered the building of the stables. Today the ruins of the palace are a tourist attraction.
