German monument to the final victory

A.k.a. rubbing their noses in it.

The Imperial Lion treads the Napoleonic Eagle, the Tricouleur, a sabre, a Chassepot rifle and a Reffye Mitrailleuse, which was an early machine-gun with 25 13mm barrels. It was powerful and rapid, but no theory of deployment existed at the time: they were used against cavalry rather than infantry and so weren't as decisive as the French had hoped.

Lovely, strong image, John. Your angle and the light make it even more powerful.
