We finished the taxes. We have to file Oregon as well as federal. Like many people we are obliged to pay quarterly estimated taxes. Rather than send them a check every quarter we send all the estimated taxes when we file the returns. Although it puts a big dent in the bank account it brings peace of mind knowing that we don't have to worry about missing a payment. You would think you could just write one big check, but you have to send in four checks in separate envelopes. The postage starts to add up. I always figured they should let you send in stuff to the IRS for free. Yeah, right.
