We got to visit Jantar Mantar in Jaipur, India. We all saw pictures of this observatory in our grade school geography books. It was built by Maharaja Jai Singh II in the early 18th century. It is a collection of dozens of astronomical instruments which are basically sundials. The biggest of them all is Samrat Yantra (Supreme Instrument) capable of measuring time to within a few seconds. We watched, it is true. This was on the top of my India bucket list, even above the Taj Mahal.

I copied this photo and enlarged it until it blurred, did not look like birds.
I thought possibly part of the astronomical instrument.
