So here is the tale of the odometer from our recent trip to Tucson. The round trip distance is 2180 miles, almost all of which is on Interstate 10. I figure we averaged about 70 mph (including stops) during that part of the journey. In West Texas the speed limit is 80 mph. That is my kind of road. I also figure we only lost about 45 minutes due to traffic jams. My two oldest sons did road trips and were greeted by hours of traffic jams for a distance that is half of ours. I guess the moral of the story is to drive to places where nobody else wants to go.
