One place that is pleasant to visit is Bay Area Park which is only two miles from the house. It is a good place to watch and photograph critters under normal circumstances. I thought it might be fun to go out there today. It wasn't normal circumstances however. The weather was very hot and it appears that all the critters were taking it easy in the shade somewhere. I did get a few frames of birds and a squirrel. Today's photo is one of the birds. I had no idea what it was so I took a visit to the App Store and came up with Merlin Bird ID. It was free, easy to get going with and within minutes the app identified today's subject as a tricolored heron (egretta tricolor). That was easy.
