Tried to do some testing of the Olympus Tough TG-6 out at the airport. My target was the van because it has grey paint which seems to show up noise well. The exercise was to see what effect the noise reduction feature has on the images. Although I didn't go above ISO 400, it was clear that the noise reduction has no effect that I could discern. I had a good look at 400 percent. So it will stay in the auto mode (implemented when the camera thinks it is needed). Really, these days Topaz and other methods work well to reduce noise in a photo. I am going to quit obsessing over noise.
