Every two years each airplane is required to have a transponder/encoder test. These are the devices that tell Air Traffic Control (ATC) where you are and how high you are. Technically, you can't fly unless the tests meet the required time. So if the inspection is not current how do you fly it to an airport where the certification can be done? One way around that (legally) is to fly in formation with an airplane that is compliant. So today Rodney led a flight of three (me and Bloke) over to Houston Southwest Airport for the certifications. Everything went well (I get the willies worrying that my gear won't pass muster). So Bloke and I are good for another two years. On the way over Bloke snapped this photo of me and my Cessna 170 enroute to Houston Southwest Airport. He used his best camera, the smartphone he had with him.
