A year and a half ago I bought a small laptop (13" Lenovo Yoga 6) to take on our trip to Egypt and Jordan. The point of the whole thing was to get one small enough to tote in a normal size backpack. We found a nice hard shell case and backpack to fit. It was ideal. Although the computer would run Lightroom and Photoshop just fine, I had a heck of a time importing photos and making a catalog. For the duration of the trip I managed in a cobbled together sort of way. I had two 512 G thumb drives (photos and backup).

So today I ended up with some spare time in the hotel after closing up at the Trade-O-Ree and figured to spend the time to sort out the problems. As you can see from todays photo, if I try to put photos into the catalog from the thumb drive and keep them on the thumb drive, it won't let me either ADD or MOVE (they are blacked out). I spent hours fiddling and web searching to no avail. Very frustrating. The thing I also found is there are lots of YouTube videos about the subject, but they are always "What I Do," and no information about what is really happening. When I get home tomorrow I will continue the quest.
