I enjoy shooting. I got my first BB gun when I was about seven. Shooting .22 Long Rifle guns is really a cheap thrill compared to other calibers. So I do it a lot. I have two .22 LR pistols, each of which is semi-automatic. That makes them very messy because the breach is opened to eject the brass while there is still pressure in the barrel. That means smoke residue escapes into the guts of the gun and gets deposited as black residue. That stuff builds up and can hamper the operation of the gun. This crud deposit ends up in the magazines as well. They eventually start malfunctioning. So today at the range one magazine was misbehaving badly. I dismantled it, cleaned it and reassembled it. It worked perfectly. When I got home I decided to clean another one. Today's photo is of the disassembled magazine. Pretty simple. I ended up harvesting gobs of black residue out if it. The follower (left gray piece) was totally black with residue. There was enough such that the movement of the follower in the magazine was sluggish. Anyway, once reassembled the magazine worked flawlessly.
