We spent the day touring around Toronto. St. Lawrence Market, Distillery District, Fort York and a cruise out to Toronto Island. Very good day.
Fort York was interesting because of its historical significance. It was the location of two battles during the war of 1812. In the first, the Americans captured the fort and burned the city including the capitol. In the second the Canadians/British recaptured the fort. The British went on to burn the US capital later in the war. Another thing is that it is surrounded by the city and elevated highways. That is what you can see in today's photo. I don't remember visiting another fort surrounded by city in any country.
