Finally arrived in Southern California. I have to admit that I am apprehensive about driving around here. Our travels today were not during rush hour, fortunately. The only sight we saw was the Nixon Library and Museum in Yorba Linda. It was very interesting and very well done. Unfortunately for President Nixon, most people only remember the Watergate Scandal. What I found most interesting were his accomplishments.. He gave us the EPA and OSHA, ended school segregation, ended the war in Viet Nam, brought about Title IX for women's sports, established the National Cancer Institute and opened up relations with Communist China, among other things. There are many others which make up a substantial record.
I think that Bill Clinton pretty much summed it up with a quote from his eulogy on April 27, 1994. President Clinton said, " ...may the day of judging President Nixon on anything less than his entire life and career come to a close. "
Today's photo is a panorama I took with my iPhone of the pool and gardens at the Nixon Museum and Library. The flowers were very impressive.
