So we have finished five days in Fredericksburg, Texas. We had heard from numerous people that it is the place to be. Well, I am not so sure about that. Our initial interest was the Museum of the War in the Pacific. There is also quite a bit of history out here. It is not far from Stonewall, Texas, the site of the LBJ Ranch. We did all that stuff and really enjoyed it. Now what?

It seems that this is a place that people visit wine tasting venues with a vengeance. We took a tour at the Grape Creek Vineyards. It was a very good tour. At $45 it was way over priced. As I mentioned a couple days ago you have to join their club to buy their overpriced wine. Everywhere you look there is a vineyard or a tasting room. Probably some people just like to come and enjoy the wine scene.

There are several blocks of shopping on Main street. Mostly it is not very interesting stuff. Ginny made one pass up and down and called it good. I didn't follow her on that jaunt.

So for me the bottom line is a nice place to visit - once.

Today's photo is of the Nimitz hotel. An historic building that was in the Nimitz family. Admiral Chester Nimitz was born here, and I figure that what started the ball rolling on the Museum. I will say for sure that the Museum of the Pacific War is very well done.
