Ginny had a morning appointment with the retina specialist, Dr. Shah. Neither of us had any clue about what to expect. After dilation the doctor could see a small (1mm) tear in the retina. The view wasn't too good because of the blood, but he could see well enough to diagnose.

What happened next amazed me. He said we could go directly to laser surgery and stitch down the torn part of the retina. Fifteen minutes after Ginny went to the laser room she was finished. I had no clue how that would work. He just zapped around the hole to seal it off so that vitreous fluid wouldn't get behind the retina and cause separation. If there is a larger tear to be found, it could require surgery. We are keeping our fingers crossed. More examination will be needed when the blood eventually clears (a couple weeks).

Today's photo is of Dr. Shah prepping Ginny for the laser treatment. It required injections into the eye which she didn't even feel. We are praying that this will be the end of it.
