I carried along 17 pounds of camera equipment on our recent Alaska adventure. What I found is that I mostly used my waterproof camera (canon D30) and my point and shoot (Canon G5X). I used my DSLR (Canon 5D mkIV) a few times. I also had a back up body (Canon 7D MkII), small flash, various filters, two remote controllers and a long zoom (100-400) which never left the case. We are heading for an overseas trip in a couple months when I just don't want to tote all that stuff along. Really, our traveling style is taking photos of the interesting stuff we see. A 20 megapixel point and shoot does just fine. I know I will have withdrawal symptoms but I can definitely live with the greatly reduced load. I need to look at a new, lighter computer as well. Looking forward to new goodies.
So the point of today's photo is that I wanted to get the G5X interfaced with my phone. I have never done that before and I spent a lot of time getting it to work. The instructions sometimes don't coincide with the reality, if you know what I mean. So finally it was working and I tried a few test shots. Then I got to thinking that I really don't have an application for this capability right now. So it goes.
