Today we did the town of New Bern, NC. It was a Saturday so we went to the farmer's market which was small but nice. The place wasn't very crowded but this is a couple weeks before high season starts.

The star historical attraction of the town is Tryon Palace. It was completed in 1770 and served as the British Governor's residence until 1775. After seizure by the Patriots in 1775, it served as the capitol of North Carolina until 1792 when the capitol was moved to Raleigh. That same year it burned down. It wasn't until 1959 that is was rebuilt. The only thing authentic about it is the design because of surviving architectural drawing. It was fun to visit, but not the same as visiting an authentic site.

Actually, today was more interesting because it is Ginny's birthday.
