And so the installation was finalized in the Cessna. I need to reattach the encoder but that is a two person job, so when Bloke returns we can finish it. Today's photo is of the reassembled instrument panel. Getting those instruments up into the holes from under and behind the panel is challenging. Reattaching the static line is also a challenge. Time for a Christmas break!

An encoder senses pressure altitude to be sent via the radar transponder to air traffic control.
Static system supplies outside ambient air pressure to the altimeter, airspeed and rate of climb indicator.
A panel like that would be nice, but there are myriads of electrical wires, controls and pneumatic tubing which make it very difficult to do.

What is a static line.
Why is the panel not hinged at the bottom to make life easy.
