Day 3
For years we have been driving up I-85 in Georgia and remarking that we should visit Warm Springs each time we pass the turn off where there is a big sign. Today, we finally made the trek there. It is where FDR built a house and bathed in the warm springs in the hope of curing his polio. The place he built was called the Little White House. It was where he died in April 1945. We stopped for a look around. There is a small museum in addition. It was interesting, but leaving there we really couldn't say we learned much new stuff. It was good to see and tour the historic Little White House.

Today was the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Normandy. To commemorate that the museum was playing the NBC radio news broadcast from that day at the time it actually occurred. Very cool. Here is that day's broadcast. The news starts at the beginning of the first file. Interesting tidbit, the news of the invasion was actually gleaned from German radio.

Then it was off to Spartanburg, South Carolina. There is another posting today about that visit.
