Another relocation day with an exciting evening. We flew to Maui. You can see Maui from the Big Island. Not very far. Once in at Kahului Airport, it was off to check into our hotel and get settled. We were a little early, so we cooled our heels while our room was prepared. The hotel is on the beach which was mobbed because it is Mother's Day and everybody is out having a picnic and relaxing. The Hawaiians seem to be pretty good at relaxing.
The big deal today was the Old Lahaina Luau. The drive to Lahaina was about an hour. There was a lot of traffic for some reason. We arrived at the place and got a good parking spot. As we entered, they gave us each a Mai Tai cocktail. I am not much of a cocktail drinker, but it was very refreshing. For about an hour before dinner commenced there were displays of native Hawaiian culture and crafts. Of course, there were Hula lessons. As you can see from today's photo, Ginny would never pass up a chance to do the Hawaiian equivalent of a line dance. They also pulled the pig out of the imu, an underground oven. There was a very good buffet dinner with Hawaiian stuff of course. The show was terrific. These people could dance, sing and drum. We enjoyed it.
Happy Mother's Day, Ginny!
