This turned out to be a rather long day. In the morning we made the hike up to the lookout over Makapu'u lighthouse. There was a lot of uphill on this hike. Fortunately, the up was on the way out so it was downhill on the return. I like it like that. Not much fun to end a hike with a long uphill slog.
The rest of the day was spent at the Polynesian Cultural Center. This has been in operation since 1963. The Mormon Church sponsors the whole thing which gives students from the Pacific Islands the opportunity to attend Brigham Young University which is right next door. They really put on a good show. We toured around with a guide and saw lots of presentations which were very good. In the evening there was a delicious dinner followed by an outstanding show which featured all sorts of singing and dancing (native style) as well as some astounding fire dancers. We finished up about 9:00pm and got back to the hotel at 10:30. Very long day.
Today's photo is of some of the dancers who provided dinner entertainment. Very nice.
