Our first full day in Honolulu. We visited the Iolani Palace which was very interesting. The Hawaiian monarchy didn't last very long. The islands consolidated into the monarchy in 1795. It was over in about 1890 when the western commercial interests did it in. King Kalakaua built the palace. Our guide was a Honolulu native who did a very good job of explaining the history.
The next stop was the State Capitol. This was a landmark visit for us. It marked the 50th capitol visited. So we completed that bucket list item. Our first capitol visit was Oregon in 2012. Now it is on to visiting all the National Parks. There are 61 of them and we have visited 42. We will visit two of them on this trip.
