Day Nineteen
This was an exciting day. We had booked a rafting trip down the Rogue River. It sounded like lots of fun. We had been rafting before and always enjoyed the adventure. Today it was supposed to include some class 4 rapids. I have no idea how they are classified. That is what the rafting company, Orange Torpedo, told us. We met up with a family group of four and headed out. Our guide was very experienced. He had lots of interesting stories. It was a series of rapids separated by stretches of flat water. Today's photo was taken by a pro sitting on the shore. You will notice that Ginny is aggressively digging in and I am wondering what the heck is happening.
Yesterday Ginny did a bunch of hotel switching. There was a very significant wildfire around Redding, CA. There was also no chance that we could even see Mt. Shasta (our original objective). So she found a nice hotel in Corning, CA, and booked us two nights. That was a brilliant idea. As we drove by the location of Mt. Shasta the visibility was only about a mile. Certainly not sightseeing weather. We decided to give Lassen Volcanic National Park a try on the next day. That would be a new one for us.
