05-AUG-2017 Ginny

August 5, 2017

Today was the event that took us out here in the first place.Ginny'a niece Rachel was getting married to Zac. We left Hillsboro after a nice lunch with Ginny's Aunt Alice. The destination was Newberg, Oregon where we had a hotel room. After checking in there was time to relax and get all gussied up for the event. The weather was unseasonably hot, but Ginny insisted that I wear a sport coat and a tie. The venue was a vineyard. It was not clear to me why this one was chosen. There are dozens of vineyards and wineries in this part of the country. The Wilamette Valley Wineries Association claims there are 500 of them. That is believable because it seems there is a sign for a winery or two every few miles down the highway. Anyway the place was nice and the weather was sunny. Fortunately it was a 6:00 pm ceremony which was after the heat of the day. The party was nice but it was small. The food was very good and in place of a traditional wedding cake they had pie (lotsa pies) and cookies. A good time was had by all.

Today's photo is Ginny's capture of the bride and groom at sunset. It is very nice. Probably better than anything their photographer has taken.
