So I drove back from Lafayette via Shreveport, LA and Marshall, TX. That route is 250 miles longer than the direct route along I-10. I went up I49 to Shreveport which is a super highway. There was hardly any traffic. I expected to see quite a few people both ways running around the road closure on the border along the Sabine River. I made the 460 mile drive in 7.5 hours which included a lunch stop. It was pedal to the metal all the way. There were lots of areas I passed through where you could see very high water, but the Interstate is high enough not to have a problem. There were several off ramps which were closed.

Thus ended a great adventure. I feel the urge to go back again and take Ginny along. She would enjoy it.

This is the TXDOT web site. The road was blocked on Tuesday, and the little blurb says it won't be open until next Monday afternoon. I don't ever remember such an outage in the past.
