This was my last full day in Lafayette. I have seen a lot of things and have had a very good time. I have to bring Ginny here. I decided to take it easy and visit some sights in town. I went to the science museum which was nice but mostly intended for school groups. The most interesting thing to me was a meteorite which was collected in Argentina in 1576. Next was Vermilionville, an Acadian village with structures representing the years of history since the Acadians arrived in 1765. I was interesting. Finally, I went to the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. They had a nice little museum. There were volunteers there to tell the story which helped a lot.

I plan to head back tomorrow, but it might take a while. All the crossings over the Sabine River are flooded. Interstate 10 has been closed for a couple days. So I will have to make my way north almost to Shreveport to get above the Toledo Bend Reservoir which is the source of the high water problem. This should be an interesting trip. I need to get back to Houston by 6:30pm to collect Ginny.
