Another day at Colonial Williamsburg. It rained all day, so our strategy was to visit as many inside things as we could. A lot of the craft shops were open so we could see how they made various things. Here a lady is crafting baskets from American Oak. I had no idea what these things were made of let alone how they prepared the components to weave the baskets. All of the shops in the town use mid 18th century processes and no modern tools. They make a lot of stuff that is used in the village (furniture, for example) and they also make a lot of stuff they sell in the shops. According to these guys, this is the only place in the US where many of these colonial trades are still done.
We plan to make another trip to Colonial Williamsburg in the near future.
