As my pbase friends might remember, Ginny and I have been staying with my son and daughter in law in order to help them out while the deal with the 9 week premature birth of their twin sons. We have been here for six weeks cooking, cleaning, repairing and anything else they need. The boys have been in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) all along. Fortunately, they are developing as well as a little premature baby could be expected. Well, yesterday evening, Richard and Christiane were able to bring Austin home at last. Happy day! Unfortunately, Andrew needs a little more time in the NICU. So there was great joy in the land.
Things have changed since we had our sons. Now they have all manner of gadgets for parents. The coolest is this video and audio monitor. You can pan the camera around and listen to what is going on in the nursery. You can also talk back to the nursery. I guess the monitor is something like 640x480. Anyway, it is cool. So here is Ginny doing her grandmotherly duties of holding Austin while he snoozes. Grandmothers like to do that, you know.
The next few days will be interesting to see how Rich and Christiane get into a routine. It will be even more interesting when Andrew comes home and joins the fun.
