This was our final day in the Maritimes. We had a lot of fun and saw lots of interesting things. When we left the hotel this morning it was pouring cats and dogs. By the time we got to Lunenburg, the rain had stopped. By the time we finished a walking tour of the town, the sun was out and we had great weather for the rest of the day. In Lunenburg we learned quite a bit about the cod fishing industry and how they actually fished for cod. I had no idea how they did it over the years. It also turn out that the cod schooner Bluenose was built here. In case you don't remember, that boat won the Americas cup 17 years running. In the harbor they have the Bluenose II, a replica of the original.

After lunch we ventured to Peggy's Cove for a look at the lighthouse. Our guide informed us that it was the most photographed spot in Canada. We thought it looked pretty cool. After our return to Halifax, we had a nice final dinner with our traveling companions. I would have to say that this was a very interesting group. All retired and all enjoying travel adventures. I am glad we are not at the end of this adventure for us. Tomorrow we travel to Deer Lake, Newfoundland for another tour up the west coast of the province and into Labrador. Then we fly to St. John, Newfoundland for a little over a week on our own driving around the eastern end of the province.

Life is good.

The Bluenose won the International Fisherman's Trophy 17 years in a row and was not involved in any America's Cup races.
