We arrived in Sitka about noon and headed to the hotel to get checked in and to dump our luggage. It was a beautiful, sunny day which is unusual. Our hotel is downtown and close to a lot of things which we want to see. We walked over to the the Sitka National Historic Park and spent quite a bit of time there. It is entirely devoted to the history of the native people. There was quite a bit of stuff to see there. After that we decided to find a liquor store and stock up on wine. That was quite a walk, but the result was worth it. Five liters of wine in a box works for us. We headed back to the hotel and celebrated Ginny's birthday in great style. We had canned salmon we got in Juneau, cheese, crackers, chocolate biscotti and wine in plastic juice glasses. Ginny got to talk with two of our sons, Richard and Robert. Life is good. |
