It was bucket list item number three for this trip - Machu Picchu. I have to tell you that all the photos I have seen just don't deliver the experience of seeing it for real. We spent a bunch of time walking around the ruins with a very good guide. Each time you move to a new spot you get another great perspective that is different from all the others. The Incas made very clever use of the existing rocks in many cases. I am told that is called "organic architecture." The city is laid out with housing areas, terraces for crops, temples and common areas. It was a cloudy day with the clouds moving and obscuring the surrounding mountain peaks. It made the atmosphere feel very mystic.
