June 19, 2011 part 2

These are entry holes for a couple cut shell rounds. It is clear that these were tumbling as they obviously went in at an angle. On the upper right are a few pellet holes from a conventional shotgun round. I will probably experiment a little more this summer.

They were fired at a range of about 10 meters. This wasn't target practice, we just wanted to see what would happen. The stump had a diameter of about 4 feet, so there was no exit from the thing. I didn't dig them out, so I have no idea how deep. I might try to dig one out just for grins when I get back to the farm in a couple weeks.

Not a bad result, how deep was the penetration ?.

What range was this?
