We flew from Sydney to Christchurch today. We arrived in the afternoon and had some free time to wander around. Christchurch isn't very big, and all the interesting bits were close to our hotel. It was interesting to note that many of the buildings had an approved for occupancy document on them after the earthquake. There were quite a few buildings that were closed and there were quite a few buildings which had collapsed partially. If you weren't looking carefully, you would hardly notice the earthquake damage. The weather was crystal clear and a little on the cool side. We went over to the botanic gardens to look around and take some photos. This is one I got with the leaves backlit by the sun against a perfectly blue sky.
