We took a trip to Kuranda today. It was fun. It started out with a train ride through the woods. There were a couple of sharp turns in the track where you could actually see the engines. Obviously, that is what this photo is about. Kuranda, itself, was pretty much a tourist trap. Lots of shops and restaurants. We knocked around the town for a while then took the Skytrail gondola ride back down the mountain. This was pretty neat. It went right above the canopy of the rain forest. It has three segments where you had to change cars. At each of the two stations there were interpretive things going on about the rainforest and the logging. The first included a couple nice overlooks of Barron Falls. After we got down to the bottom, we went to Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park which turned out to be quite interesting. I had always wondered what a digeridoo sounded like in the hands of a master. The day ended up with an evening flight to Darwin.
