Bathing machines can be seen on the beach and in the water.
During that era it was not proper for a lady to be seen on the beach in her bathing suit, they entered the bathing machine fully dressed and a horse hauled the machine out into the water, she then changed into her bathing suit and entered the water, this procedure was reversed for the return to the beach.
