Battleship USS Kearsarge (BB-5) in dry dock.
She was initially flagship of the North Atlantic Squadron then joined the Great White Fleet in 1909 operating in the Pacific. During WW1 she operated on the eastern seaboard of the US.
In 1920 her turrets, superstructure, and armor were removed and 250 ton capacity crane was installed, she served as a Crane Ship until decommissioned and scrapped in 1955
In 1941 she was renamed Crane Ship No.1 to free the name up for the aircraft carrier (CV-12) which was later named Hornet (CV-12)
