This gentleman with the fine moustache is 1st Lt Edward S Godfrey (1842-1932) of the 7th Calvary
A survivor of the Battle of Little Big Horn he retired from the army in 1907 with the rank of Brigadier General

Great story of this officer. I'm sure though that eating soup must have been a challenge. To have survived the Big Horn, he must've been assigned to Captain Benteen's command which was separated from Custer's group.
