The Ingonish was built for the Royal Navy in Vancouver BC and launched in 1941, she was loaned to the Royal Canadian Navy in 1942 where she served on convoy escort on the west coast.
In 1943 she was transferred to the east coast where she served on patrol and escort duties out of Halifax and Sydney, Nova Scotia
