A Fortress 1,( the RAF designation for the Boeing B-17C)
photo taken in 1941 (the tail is quite a bit different from later models)
Twenty Fortress 1's were purchased by the RAF and saw service with 90 Sqdn in daylight raids over Germany, the aircraft however was deemed unsuitable for the roll, the twelve remaining aircraft being transferred to a detachment of 220
Sqdn operating in the Middle East.
