Run aground.

Richmond Lock

The Thames Guardian, owned by the Enviromental Agency runs aground.
It is strange that all the boats that run aground on this very well known shallow spot, are government boats. People that work on the river for a living.
Of course the small boat failed to push it off. It floated free a few hours later when the tide came in.
I have never seen a privately owned boat run aground here.

Jason, they do not need navigation equipment on the River Thames.
There are only three modes for the boat. Go upriver between the narrow banks, go downriver between the narrow banks, or moor up somewhere.
This instance of running aground was massive incompetence.

They should have tossed the navigation equipment overboard to reduce draft (and draught), since it isn't used.

John, if they are still there past 'knocking off' time, they go onto double overtime and so make extra money. So no wonder its all government boats that run aground.
