Easter Islanders live on.

Langdon Cliffs.

The inhabitants of Easter Island did not die out. They slowly travelled the world looking for a place to settle. Here they are at Dover. These are the first attempts of their new statue design.
Note they are all facing the sea. In a few years they will be building 100 foot tall, 90 ton statues. Remember you read it here first.

Those who ignore history are condemned to repeat it. Your comment has made me wiser.

Dave, when the Easter Islanders hacked their first monumental statues out of the bedrock, the adjacent islanders said they lacked redeeming social value, and were a step backward. Today many people travel thousands of miles to admire them, and have a photograph of themselves standing beside them.
Large oak trees, from a little acorn grow.

The modern design, like some architectural styles, lacks all redeeming social value: definitely a step backwards. Source of documentation duly noted for posterity.
