Stopped in traffic near bridge.

A249, Isle of Sheppey.

The centre of the bridge road lifts horizontally to allow ships to pass underneath.
It is fully up in this shot.
This is why the new bridge has been built on the right.

I don't like it when structures like this are torn down. btw doesn't Prince Charles fight to save such structures????

Dave, this bridge will stay as it also carries a single track railway line, which could not be routed over the new bridge. There is no pedestrian access on the new bridge.
Although the old bridge has a pavement for pedestrians they are exceedingly rare.

Will this bridge, a more inviting structure, be demolished?
Does the new bridge have a sidewalk (pavement) for pedestrians?
