Dave,
There was no one nearby to ask. The Warrior is a floating museum. All over the ship there are guides to tell you about the ship. A lot of them are volunteers (mostly retired) who do it because they want to help. They have a vast knowledge of the ship and are happy to talk for hours about it. It is very much a hands on museum, you are encouraged to touch things, to sit on the benches where the sailors ate their meals.
There is so much to see and do you really need to visit more than once. If I ever get back on it I will enquire about the valve.
