Launched 1860. Length 418 feet. Beam 58 feet. Draught 26 feet. Weight 9,210 tons. 3 masted sailing ship with a 5,468 hp steam engine. Maximum speed under sail, 13 knots. Maximun speed under steam, 14.4 knots Maximum speed under both, 17.5 knots Ships company 705. The 26 ton propeller was raised out of the water when sail alone was being used. It is estimated it took 400 men to do this.
