The photos before and after were ok, I have no idea what happened.

I cannot remember fine details unfortunately. But I take many thousands of photos with each of my cameras, and this is the only time it ever happened.

I had something like this once - camera had switched to panoramic mode - if you were panning or either not moving the camera this may have ocurred. All assuming you had that mode on the camera ! Enjoy your photos as always
