The desalinator.

Portsmouth Dockyard

An attachment to the stove to make fresh water from sea water.
It only made small amounts, which were reserved for sailors in the sick bay.

Actually, the more I think about it
the more I figure condenser cooling
might have been a major factor in
the limited output.

I figured it was sea water, I was
just curious how they circulated
the water to the condenser. For our
rotary evaporators in graduate
school we used a small submersible
pump in a bucket of ice water.
Very effective. Pretty sure the
Victory didn't have an ice machine.

Possibly sea water John, without being facetious, that's the one item they had plenty of.
When I go back on the Victory again I will ask the tour guide how it worked.
They are pretty good at answering questions about the Victory.
